Foster, Gus

Gus Foster has been making photographs with various panorama cameras since 1972. His portfolio includes a series of more than 50 images taken from “fourteeners” in the American Rockies; “time photographs” panoramas that capture human movement in a split second; and a group of images documenting his 300-mile walk on the Tokaido Road in Japan in 1991. “The Cross Country Project” is a two-part trek that covered 4000 miles in an “X” across the United States in 2004 and 2005. Foster documented the walk with over 2000 photographs, many of which are included on this site. Twenty of his panoramas are available as posters. Gus Foster lives and works in Taos, New Mexico.
