Student workers serve many needs at New Mexico PBS including Production, Post-Production, Communications, Education & Member Services. Students often come from the Media Arts and Communications Departments at UNM.

New Mexico PBS also mentors student interns seeking credit for production or station work, and high school students through the APS Mentorship Program.

CJ 360 Broadcast News Istu3 Description: This class is designed for journalism and multimedia students with an interestin broadcast journalism. The course emphasizes broadcast news production. Students learn how to make reports for television and Webcasts. Students will use ENG cameras, a state-of-the-art broadcast studio and video editing equipment. They will also be introduced to the various jobs in television news and multimedia news.

CJ 460 Broadcast News II Description: This class is designed for journalism and multimedia students with an interest in broadcast journalism. The course emphasizes honing the broadcast news production skill learned in the C&J 360 course, and making a resume reel for landing a job.

Position Summary: New Mexico PBS is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Student Production Technician. The person selected will work under the Supervisor of TV Production Support as part of the studio production crew. Some assignments will also include field production. The job involves running studio camera, audio, teleprompter, character generator, technical directing, lighting and tape operation.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be a currently enrolled UNM student taking at least 6 credit hours.

Condition of Employment: Must be available to work on Thursday afternoons from 1pm to 6pm. Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license and a clean driving record. Recent completion of the UNM driver’s safety course is a plus. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
