In Memoriam: Kathleen McVicker

January 9, 1933 - November 27, 2025

Kathleen was a founding member of the KNME family, a television pioneer and one of KNME-TV’s first stars. In 1962, while teaching music for APS, Kathleen was selected for a new position as producer, writer, and on-camera talent for a live, music instruction program on KNME-TV. Her efforts and talent quickly helped put our station on the map. Generations of kids grew up with Kathleen at home and in the classroom throughout KNME's viewing area. Kathleen also spent many years as a host for our live on-air fundraising pledge drives and as a member of our Community Advisory Committee. Her influence spans generations and lives on in the mission of public broadcasting and foundational educational children’s programing.
