Position Summary
New Mexico PBS (KNME-TV) is seeking a TV Production Tech 1 to join our production department. This position, under direct supervision, provides a variety of technical support services for in-studio and remote field television productions, special projects, and station outreach activities.


Transports, sets up, and operates a variety of television equipment; assists with editing of material; assists with staging, set preparation and dressing; and assists in studio and equipment maintenance. Prepares studio with requested equipment and sets for meetings, teleconferences, special events, and studio tours. Performs video logging and timecode window dubs; prepares library materials for integration into productions; performs video and audio library retrieval.


Moves and sets lights as required, ensuring proper light levels and conformance to lighting plans. Operates audio boards, tape machines and microphones to ensure proper audio levels and sound quality. Completes trouble and preventive maintenance reports on video and audio production equipment; assists in repair and upkeep of studio and production sets and properties. May edit on-line and off-line material. May produce and edit short segments and spots. May keep records and schedules of facility use. May lead and/or guide the work of others including interns, volunteers, and student employees.

Conditions of Employment
Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license is a requirement for this job.


Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.


Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.


Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications include a good understanding of storytelling techniques for media platforms such as broadcasting and the internet. Also, a good working knowledge of professional video production equipment for both studio and field production.


Additional Requirements Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license is a requirement for this job.

Position Summary
New Mexico PBS/KNME-TV, a department of the University of New Mexico, is seeking a Lead TV Transmission Ops Tech to join our RF engineering team.
Under minimal supervision, this position executes and/or coordinates the design, installation and maintenance of all remote television transmitters, as well as all unstaffed station translator sites and satellite sites distributed across the broadcasting area of the University’s public television station, KNME-TV.


The candidate will develop, manage and coordinate construction projects and oversee ongoing technical operations for the station’s transmission network, as well as maintaining documentation in accordance with FCC regulations and University policies and procedures. This position has an expectation of being available in the event of equipment malfunction requiring emergency repairs. This position requires knowledge of broadcast system circuitry design/installation, as well as the ability to inspect, repair and maintain electrical equipment and facilities. Must be able to use hand and power tools and follow safety best practices.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional Requirements This position includes exposure to high altitudes and extreme temperatures related to outdoor environments. Work requires frequent operations of 4-wheel drive vehicles and/or snow cats. Position also entails moderate physical activity, including handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than 4 hours per day. Position involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, requiring following basic safety precautions. This position requires a valid New Mexico driver’s license.
