Working Title Broadcast Technology Tech,Sr

Position Summary
**Relocation assistance up to $3,000 available** New Mexico PBS/KNME-TV, a department of the University of New Mexico, is seeking a Sr. Broadcast Technology Tech to join our RF engineering team. Under minimal supervision, this position executes and/or coordinates the design, installation and maintenance of all remote television transmitters, as well as all unstaffed station translator sites and satellite sites distributed across the broadcasting area of the University’s public television station, KNME-TV.


This position will develop, manage and coordinate construction projects and oversee ongoing technical operations for the station’s transmission network, as well as maintaining documentation in accordance with FCC regulations and University policies and procedures. This position has an expectation of being available in the event of equipment malfunction requiring emergency repairs. This position requires knowledge of broadcast system circuitry design/installation, as well as the ability to inspect, repair and maintain electrical equipment and facilities.


Must be able to use hand and power tools and follow safety best practices. This position will be expected to climb towers up to 180′ using best safety practices. Tower climbing safety training provided.


Conditions of Employment
Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license is a requirement for this job.
Must obtain certification within one (1) year date of hire.
Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure: Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) Certification obtained within 12 months of hire date.


Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.


Preferred Qualifications
Additional Requirements This position includes exposure to high altitudes and extreme temperatures related to outdoor environments. Work requires frequent operations of 4-wheel drive vehicles and/or snow cats. Position also entails moderate physical activity, including handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than 4 hours per day. Position involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, requiring following basic safety precautions. This position requires a valid New Mexico driver’s license.

Working Title Broadcast Technology Tech

Position Summary
**Relocation assistance up to $1,500 available **New Mexico PBS/KNME-TV, a department of the University of New Mexico, is seeking a Broadcast Technician to join our engineering team. Under general supervision, this position provides technical assistance to RF transmission and studio broadcast technology technicians. Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs broadcast studio, satellite transmit/receive, and transmission systems and equipment. This position assists with performing functional and operational testing procedures to ensure quality reception and transmission of television broadcast products.


This position will also assist the Senior Broadcast Technology Technicians with maintaining documentation in compliance with Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations. This position has an expectation of being available in the event of equipment malfunction requiring emergency repairs. As this position will be assisting the RF team, requires the ability to climb towers up to 180′ ft using best safety practices. Tower climbing safety training will be provided.
