Position Summary
New Mexico PBS/KNME-TV, a department of the University of New Mexico, is seeking a broadcast technician to join our engineering team.

Under general supervision, this position provides technical assistance to RF transmission and studio lead broadcast operations technicians. Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs broadcast studio, satellite transmit/receive, and transmission systems and equipment. This position assists with performing functional and operational testing procedures to ensure quality reception and transmission of television broadcast products. This position will also assist the lead broadcast operations technicians with maintaining documentation in compliance with Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations.This position has an expectation of being available in the event of equipment malfunction requiring emergency repairs.

Sr. Producer, Public Affairs

Position Summary
New Mexico PBS is looking for a strong journalist to join our team as Senior Multimedia Producer/Director of our weekly public affairs show, New Mexico in Focus. The show reaches more than 800,000 households each week across the state, and provides in depth and thoughtful analysis and coverage of issues important to communities across New Mexico. Interested candidates should have a strong knowledge of public affairs issues in the state, and a commitment to diversity and creativity. This position is in charge of all aspects of the show, from choosing topics, deciding on guests, preparing scripts and questions, working with on-air talent, and overseeing the on-air look, sets, graphics, etc. In addition, the position is also responsible for the online and social media coverage of the show, working closely with the stations communication and marketing employees as well as providing supervision, training and direction to the production staff, including producers/directors, interns and volunteers.

  • Experience in seeking out, developing, writing and submission of grant proposals. May serve as principal investigator where appropriate.
  • Ability to create, compose and edit written materials, both for broadcast, and online.
  • Experience with professional audio/video and staging techniques, facilities and equipment.
  • Strong experience of professional audio and/or video tape editing, production and post-production procedures, techniques and standards.
  • Strong communication and project management experience.
  • Ability to make deadlines and organize resources a must.

Position Summary

New Mexico PBS is seeking qualified candidates for the position of TV Production Crew. The persons selected will work under the Supervisor of TV Production Support as part of the studio production crew. Some assignments will also include field production. The job involves running studio camera, audio, teleprompter, character generator, lighting, general grip work and tape operation. Additional hours will be assigned as needed by New Mexico PBS. This position occasionally requires work in the evening, early morning and/or weekends.


Preferred Qualifications
Must have excellent customer service and computer skills, be team oriented, organized and dependable, this position will provide a maximum of 20 hrs per week. Must be available on Thursday mornings between 9am and 1pm. Additional hours assigned as need arises.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in environmental extremes (30F degrees to 100F degrees).

Must be able to work atop a 15′ ladder.

Work in the New Mexico PBS studio as a camera operator, audio tech, Chyron operator, technical director and grip. This includes lighting studio sets, moving sets into position and field production.

Applicants should have knowledge and experience in the latest high-definition studio and field production techniques, not limited to studio and field direction, audio production, remote production, non-linear post-production, graphic design and digital asset management, satellite and fiber distribution. Preference will be given to applicants that can prove knowledge and experience with Avid and Sony XDCam workflow, as well as Adobe After effects and Photoshop.
