August 24, 2018 – A grand jury report recently disclosed widespread abuse by Catholic priests in Pennsylvania. The story brought up New Mexico’s own history of abuse in the Catholic Church when it was revealed at least a dozen of those accused of molesting children in Pennsylvania were sent to the Servants of the Paraclete Center in Jemez Springs for “treatment.”

March 16, 2018 – Legislators again failed to pass a proposal to expand early childhood education using money from the Land Grant Permanent Fund, and took issue when Allen Sánchez, executive director of the New Mexico Conference of Bishops, called the action racist.
