Women and Political Leadership


December 4, 2020 – New Mexico’s incoming House of Representatives will be mostly women. Sen. Mimi Stewart of Albuquerque has been nominated by the Democratic Caucus to assume the Senate’s top leadership position as president pro tempore. Republican women have made gains in the U.S. House and President-elect Biden has appointed many women to his staff. Gene Grant and The Line opinion panelists look at strides women have made in holding political office, as well as how they might govern.
