Top Stories of 2019: #10 and #9 | The Line

December 27, 2019 – Gene Grant and a special all-journalist Line panel count down the top stories of 2019, based on impact and amount of time spent discussing it throughout the year. Coming in at number 10 this year was President Trump’s Rio Rancho rally in September. Leading up to the rally, the President and his campaign declared our state in play for his 2020 re-election bid. The Line panelists weigh in on that prediction as well as his attempts to connect with Hispanic and Latino voters leading up to the elections. Coming in at number 9 on our countdown was the news that Senator Tom Udall would not be running for re-election in 2020. The panelists react to that announcement and the domino effect it is having in many of the other statewide races.

Line Panelists:
Gwyneth Doland, adjunct professor, UNM Communication & Journalism Dept.
Andy Lyman, reporter, New Mexico Political Report
Jessica Onsurez, news director, Carlsbad Current Argus
Steve Terrell, retired reporter, Santa Fe New Mexican
