The Line: Window Has Closed for Filing Abuse Claims Against Archdiocese

June 21, 2019 – June 17 at 5:00 PM was the deadline to file outstanding clergy abuse and other grievance claims against the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, as part of its bankruptcy process.

Court records show that 340 claims were filed by the Monday deadline. According to one attorney, the window is now closed for abuse survivors to seek recourse from the Archdiocese. Will Archbishop John C. Wester’s request for prayers for emotional and spiritual healing be enough for those who may be left out of future settlements? Will the court establish a latecomers fund? Gene Grant and the Line panelists debate the actions of the largest archdiocese in New Mexico.

Line Panelists:
Janice Arnold-Jones, former NM state representative
Tom Garrity, The Garrity Group PR
Giovanna Rossi, Collective Action Strategies,  “The Well Woman Show” (KUNM)
Harry Van Buren, UNM Anderson School of Management
