The Line: UNM Risks State Funding Over Athletic Department Deficit

April 6, 2018 – New Mexico’s Secretary of Higher Education, Barbara Damron, has been waiting for an athletics deficit reduction payment plan from UNM since she asked for it in October of 2017. Last week, in a letter to new University of New Mexico President Garnett Stokes, Damron said it must be submitted by May 1 or state funding for the entire university could be jeopardized. Gene Grant and the Line opinion panel discuss the impact of the athletics deficit on the university community.

Line Panelists:
Diane Denish, former lieutenant governor of New Mexico
Dan Foley, former House minority whip
Tom Garrity, the Garrity Group PR
