The Line: UNM Regents

February 15, 2019 – The University of New Mexico’s Board of Regents looks very different than it did a week ago. That’s because new Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham appointed five new members to the Board this week, leaving President Robert Doughty and Vice President Marron Lee as the only holdovers from the Susana Martinez administration. The appointments were made after an advisory panel interviewed candidates and offered suggestions to Lujan Grisham, a process that had never been done before. Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists talk about the appointees and the challenges the new-look Board faces going forward. That includes an enrollment crisis, and frustration from lawmakers over the UNM Administration’s decision to cut several sports programs due to budget and Title IX concerns.

Jeffrey Candelaria, Konnection Now & host on KKOB
Sophie Martin, attorney
Serge Martinez, professor, UNM School of Law
