The Line: Top Stories of 2018 (Numbers 10 & 9)

December 21, 2018 – 2018 has been a memorable year, filled with plenty of twists and turns, and up and downs. This week, local journalists make up a special Line panel to begin our countdown of the top stories of the past year. Coming in at number ten on this year’s list is the arrest of five people at a compound north of Taos, after the death of a small child. The story was a complicated one, as both local, state and federal officials had a role in the investigation. And, even more charges may still be in the works for at least some of those suspects. And, the 9th biggest story of 2018 was the #MeToo movement in New Mexico. The social media campaign was designed to bring awareness to the sexual harassment and abuse many women experience in the workplace. There were several high profile cases of alleged abuse in New Mexico, from the local film industry, to the state Democratic Party, and the Roundhouse in Santa Fe.

Line Panelists:
Inez Russell Gomez, editorial page editor, Santa Fe New Mexican
Mary Hudetz, reporter, Associated Press
Andy Lyman, reporter, New Mexico Political Report
Jeff Proctor, reporter, Santa Fe Reporter and New Mexico in Depth
