The Line: Top Stories of 2018 (Number 1)

December 21, 2018 -The time has come to unveil New Mexico in Focus’s top story of 2018, with the help of host Gene Grant and an all-journalist Line opinion panel. Coming in at number 1 is the “Blue Wave” that swallowed up this year’s midterm elections. Not only did the Democrats take back the Governor’s seat with Michelle Lujan Grisham’s big win over Steve Pearce, but the entire congressional delegation is now blue. And, there were plenty of firsts in the midterms as well, highlighted by Deb Haaland’s win in the first congressional district, making her one of the first female Native Americans ever to serve in the U.S. Congress. The Line panelists talk about what led to the democratic dominance, and what it all means for the state headed in to an all important 60-day legislative session.
