December 22, 2017 – Number seven on our list of the top ten stories of 2017 is two high-profile measures that failed at the polls this year – Santa Fe’s “Soda Tax” and Albuquerque’s Healthy Workforce Initiative. The tax on sugary beverages would have provided money for early childhood education in Santa Fe and the Duke City’s initiative would have made it mandatory for employers to allow employees to accrue sick leave.
