The Line: New Mexico Out Of Compliance With REAL ID Act, What’s Next?

November 13, 2015 – The debate over New Mexico driver’s licenses is heating up again. New Mexico is currently out of compliance with the federal REAL ID Act. The Department of Homeland Security recently declined to issue another extension to the state.  That means New Mexico driver’s licenses would no longer be an accepted form of identification at government facilities like Kirtland Air Force Base. Many government contractors have raised concerns about what this will mean for their employees in January after the current extension runs out.

Host Gene Grant leads a discussion with this week’s Line opinion panelists about driver’s licenses and what might happen in the next legislative session.
