The Line: Man with Gun Verbally Harassing People on Santa Fe Plaza

August 23, 2019 – Gene Grant and The Line opinion panel discuss the growing concern over a man who, while legally carrying a gun on his hip, has been harassing vendors and others on the Santa Fe Plaza, including asking them for proof of citizenship. New Mexico law allows for open carry and the man has a right to free speech, but at Santa Fe’s Entrada a couple of years ago, protesters waving signs were corralled into “free speech zones.” Is letting this man have free rein of the plaza applying a double standard?
