The Line: Judge Rules UNM Foundation Subject To Public Records Laws

June 1, 2018 – Judge Nancy Franchini’s decision that the University of New Mexico Foundation is subject to the Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) has transparency advocates smiling. Franchini ruled in favor of suit brought by journalist Daniel Libit over the UNM Foundation’s failure to produce documents related to naming rights for the University Arena, aka “The Pit,” claiming the foundation was a separate, private, nonprofit entity.
