The Line: Higher Education in New Mexico

July 21, 2017 –  Does New Mexico have too many public institutions of higher education? Some – including New Mexico State University Chancellor Garrey Carruthers – think so.  What would happen to the state’s rural communities if their small or branch campuses were to disappear?

And in other higher education news, the Science and Technology Corporation at the University of New Mexico saw a record number of startups formed with their partnership and technology – but of the 12 startups they were teamed with this year, eight chose to leave the state. How can New Mexico retain home-grown talent?
