The Line: High Rate Of Children On Food Stamps In New Mexico

October 21, 2016 – This week host Gene Grant and our Line opinion panelists discuss what should be done to address the high rate of families on food assistance in our state.

According to a recent report released by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 46 percent of children under the age of four in New Mexico are on food stamps. New Mexico has the highest percentage of preschool age children enrolled in the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, in the nation.
