The Line: Financial Pressure On Cities

January 27, 2017 – The Santa Fe New Mexican reported this week that the city is trying to recoup $140,000 in fees from special events put on by nonprofits. The city council voted last year to start charging nonprofits for police officers at special events, but some nonprofits say they were not properly informed about when the new charges would begin. Host Gene Grant and this week’s Line opinion panelists discuss this news story and talk about increasing budget woes in cities across the state.

 Line Panelists:

Janice Arnold-Jones, former state representative
