The Line: Federal Judge Throws Out Lawsuit Over Chaco-Area Drilling

May 4, 2018 – After he seemed to agree that drilling around Chaco Canyon violated historic preservation laws, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit that sought to protect the area. While it was good news for the oil and gas industry, Indigenous and environmental activists will seek to appeal his decision. Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists talk about the sacredness of the Chaco area to Native Americans and debate whether historic preservation laws need to change.

Line Panelists:
Michael Bird, public health consultant
Dede Feldman, former state senator
Dan Foley, former House minority whip
Laura Sanchez-Rivét, attorney at Cuddy and McCarthy, LLP
