The Line: Education Department Appointments, Legislation

February 1, 2019 – Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham chose former teacher and NMSU researcher Dr. Karen Trujillo as secretary designate for the state’s Public Education Department, and appointed an experienced team to assist her, including the founders of the Native American Community Academy and the South Valley Academy.  As Senate Bill 1 moves through the legislature, with its education reforms and budget requests, how will Ms. Trujillo and her team carry out the goals mapped out by New Mexico’s new governor?  Gene Grant and the Line panelists discuss the future of our state’s schools.
