The Line: City Of Albuquerque Targeted In Scam

April 14, 2017 – The city of Albuquerque fell victim to a scam that caused $420,000 in taxpayer dollars to go to a fake construction contractor.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 reported that they had warned the city of a similar scam targeting a mass transit project in El Paso, but Albuquerque officials insisted it would not happen here due to strong checks and balances already in place.

Gene Grant and the Line panelists debate how cybercriminals get past such checks and balances and discuss what the city might do going forward.

Line Panelists:
Janice Arnold-Jones, former state representative
