The Line: Children With Disabilities Wait Years For Services

September 7, 2018 – The Albuquerque Journal published an in-depth article profiling a
young woman who has waited 12 years for Development Disabilities Waiver funding, and it has cost her family hundreds of dollars in some months to pay for activities and services on their own. She is not alone. Up to 4,500 children, some who are now young adults, are on a waiting list for aid to which they are entitled. The problem is a funding shortage. But is that a good excuse?

The Line opinion panelists join host Gene Grant in discussing ways to best take care of New Mexicans with disabilities.
