The Line: APD Union Files Complaint About Issues During Trump Protest (web extra)

June 10, 2016 – The Albuquerque Police Officers’ Association (APOA) filed a complaint with the City and APD claiming that both entities put officers in danger during protests surrounding Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s visit to New Mexico.

“Upon information and belief of the APOA, the department failed to properly organize this deployment; the department failed to properly provide enough manpower to safely conduct this operation.”

The protests in downtown Albuquerque on May 24 were peaceful in the beginning but turned violent later int he night. Rocks, bottles and other objects were hurled at officers by some protesters.
