The Line: Top Election Issues

The Line Polls and Election

September 28, 2018 – A new public opinion poll in the Albuquerque Journal lays out what voters identified as the most important issues headed up to the midterm elections. At the top of the list is crime, which 78% of respondents said was a “very serious” issue. And that result comes on the heels of the new FBI Crime in the U.S. Report, which put New Mexico again near the top of the list for per capita property and violent crimes. Host Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists discuss the issues and how they are showing up on the campaign trail this year.

Line Panelists:
Mark Boitano, Former NM Senator
Adrian Carver, Executive Director, Equality New Mexico

The Line: Political Landscape Leading To Primaries

1148 Line Primaries

June 1, 2018 – Election Day is June 5, but only for New Mexican voters registered with one of three major parties in the state: Democratic, Republican or Libertarian. There is a push, however, from a group called Unite New Mexico that wants to remind voters that there are viable candidates who will be running as independents in the general election.  Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists look at the group’s message, and also at which governor candidates did – and did not – agree to release their tax returns.
