January 11, 2019 – This year’s 60-day legislative session begins next week, starting midday on Tuesday, January 15 with Governor Lujan Grisham’s first State of the State address.  There have been many bills filed ahead of the session, including those that deal with raising the minimum wage, tax code reform, and a bid to reinstate the so-called “food tax.” Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists debate the merits of certain bills and look at predictions and expectations for the 60-day session at the Roundhouse.

State of the State 2018

January 19, 2018 – The Line opinion panelists continue their look at Governor Martinez’ State of the State address, with a focus on her points about crime and public safety. During her speech, the Governor introduced a police officer whose badge stopped a bullet fired from the gun of a career criminal recently bonded out by a judge. Gene Grant and the Line look at the Governor’s legacy in matters not only of crime, but also of punishment.
