The Line: Expo New Mexico a Temporary Stay for Some Asylum Seekers

Albuquerque Immigration

May 2, 2019 – While Santa Fe Mayor Alan Webber said his city was better equipped to send donations and services to points south rather than host asylum seekers, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller and state officials announced that Expo New Mexico is ready to provide temporary housing in its dorms. Gene Grant and the Line opinion panel explore different approaches between the cities of Santa Fe and Albuquerque when it comes to sheltering asylum seekers.

Earlier this week, NMiF hosted a Facebook Live interview with Gary Coffin, the vice president of Indivisible Nob Hill, and Jim Gannon, CEO of Catholic Charities, to discuss ways to help asylum seekers. You can watch it on the New Mexico in Focus Facebook page.
