Legislative Session Roundhouse

The Roundhouse

June 2, 2017 - The special legislative session wrapped up earlier this week with a budget deal that leaves less than 1% in the state’s reserves. Funding for higher education was restored but the economic future of the state still remains unclear. The Albuquerque Journal reported that Senator John Arthur Smith believes there’s a “50-50 chance” that New Mexico’s bond rating could be downgraded again. Host Gene Grant and this week’s Line opinion panel of local journalists react to the outcome of the special session and talk about what comes next.
