Addressing Gun Violence in New Mexico

march for our lives

March 30, 2018 – The student-led March For Our Lives event in Albuquerque last week drew thousands of people out into the streets and to Tiguex Park near Old Town. But student organizers says it is only the first step in their efforts to address gun violence here in New Mexico.

Producer Sarah Gustavus sat down this week with four organizers to talk about why the issue of gun violence is important to them and what they plan to do next.

School Safety Across New Mexico

March 2, 2018 – Threats on social media against schools in New Mexico have students and parents on edge right now. School districts already had procedures and safety measures in place, but many administrators are considering new investments to ensure students are safe. Gene Grant sits down this week with Michael Baker from Rio Rancho Public Schools, Officer Rob DeBuck from the Albuquerque Police Department and Paul Feist from the Soteria Group to talk about effective responses to threats and what we might look at in planning for school safety in New Mexico.
