February 9, 2018 – New Mexico’s economy was doing pretty well in 2006. Then the Great Recession hit in December of 2007 and the state’s economy has yet to recover. New Mexico is in a pattern of boom and bust cycles, largely because of its reliance on the oil and gas industry. Economists say something different must be done to break that cycle.
