The Line: Distributing Naxalone in New Mexico

July 24, 2015 – The number of people who are abusing heroin and prescription drugs is rising across the country, according to the latest statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The drug naxalone is an effective way to reduce the number of people who die from drug overdoses each year. Is it being distributed effectively in New Mexico?

The Santa Fe New Mexican reported this week that some local agencies are concerned that new rules from the Department of Health are making it more difficult to get naloxone to people who have a high risk of drug overdose.

This week’s Line opinion panelists react to the story and share what they think should be done to address addiction and improve access to treatment in our state.
