Sports Events One of The Keys to Tourism in Albuquerque? | The Line

October 4, 2019 – This summer’s national Senior Games was a big boon for the city of Albuquerque, both in terms of prestige and tourism dollars. Mayor Tim Keller believes the city can capitalize on that momentum by investing 28 million dollars into local athletic facilities to attract even bigger sporting events. But in order to do that, the city would need to refinance the existing lodgers tax bonds. Host Gene Grant and The Line panelists weigh the opportunity and discuss why there seems to be a lack of consensus on the idea among local hotel operators.
