“Right to Work” Legislation, Hanna Skandera, Albuquerque Police Oversight Board

This week on New Mexico in Focus, correspondent Gwyneth Doland brings us
both sides of the debate over labor legislation known as “right to work.”
The proposal is supported by Governor Martinez and passed the NM House this
session, but was blocked in a Senate committee this week.

Producer Sarah Gustavus sits down with New Mexico Education Secretary Hanna
Skandera to talk about student protests over the PARCC exam and her current
education priorities.

Also, the newly formed Albuquerque Police Oversight Board holds its first
meeting this week. Sarah Gustavus sits down with two members to discuss why
they joined the board and what they hope to accomplish. We also hear how the
board will be structured differently than the previous Police Oversight
Commission.

Gene Grant and this week’s line opinion panelists discuss right to work
legislation, the years-long waiting list for the Developmental Disability
Waiver Program and an arson attempt against the Rio Grande Sun.
