Re-connecting With A Healthy Lifestyle: Technology And Online Tools

December 8, 2017 – There are thousands of websites and apps that aim to help people manage their weight or work on improving their health. But few of those resources are targeted for Native Americans.

In the latest installment of our series “Re-connecting with a Healthy Lifestyle” we look at how technology and online tools can help Native Americans take charge of their health and wellness. Producer Sarah Gustavus and correspondent Antonia Gonzales traveled to Arizona to meet with the creators of the Unity Wellness Warriors app and the Healthy Active Natives Facebook group. They also spoke with Dr. John Molina with Native Health in Phoenix about how technology and online tools can complement Indigenous values on health and wellness.

This series was produced with support from the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism and the Dennis A. Hunt Fund for Health Journalism in collaboration with National Native News.
