Protecting NM Water Following Trump Cuts


2.13.26 – In 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling that revised the definition of where the Clean Water Act applies, which left the vast majority of streams, rivers and wetlands in New Mexico without clear protection. Last year, state lawmakers voted to create a state program to replace it, but ongoing funding for that effort needs to survive this session. Correspondent Elizabeth Miller joins Tricia Snyder, Rivers and Waters program director for the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance, on the banks of the Santa Fe River to learn more.
