Political Science Professor Emerita Christine Sierra, The Line

This week on New Mexico in Focus, correspondent Megan Kamerick sits down with UNM Political Science Professor Emerita Christine Sierra. Sierra has blazed many trails in her life. She was among the first Mexican-America women to get a doctorate in political science and helped build the field of Latino/Latina political studies. She talks about her life and scholarship, as well as the current political landscape around immigration and activism in the Latino community.

And Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists discuss a new poll laying out the public’s top issues headed into this year’s midterm elections. The group also tackle a new website set up to promote Governor Susana Martinez’s legacy, just as a new poll shows her approval rating has fallen to 35%. Plus, they discuss a new lawsuit alleging deficiencies in the state’s foster care system.
