LGBTQ Youth

June is National LGBTQ Pride month. This year’s Albuquerque Pride parade will take place on June 13. This week on New Mexico in Focus, we learn about some of the challenges faced by young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. We also discuss what programs and policies might help young people feel more secure in their schools.

Guests:
Amber Royster, executive director of Equality New Mexico
Erin Northern, co-chair of the Albuquerque chapter of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN)
Robyn Weekooty, high school junior
