Legislative Special Session Patches Budget, Tackles Other Issues

June 26, 2020 – The emergency special session of the New Mexico Legislature clocked in at less than a week. Starting on June 18th and ending on the 22nd, the session’s main goal was to provide a stop-gap solution to pandemic-related budget holes that would see the state through to the regular session next year.  Legislators also acted on other bills, including police reform, election changes and small business relief. Gene Grant and The Line opinion panel analyze the outcomes of the special session and debate whether lawmakers accomplished all they set out to do.
