US Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham, Transparency in State Government, Lesson Plans and Intellectual Property

This week on New Mexico in Focus, we sit down with US Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham to talk about legislation that would require special prosecutors in cases of police-involved shootings. Lujan Grisham tells producer Sarah Gustavus how she thinks the proposal could be used to create better oversight of police-involved shootings in Albuquerque and other cities across the nation.

In our latest report for the People, Power and Democracy Project, correspondent Gwyneth Doland asks lawmakers at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe how they are seeking to increase transparency in state government.

Host Gene Grant and The Line panelists discuss why some bills are getting more attention than others this session and whether lessons plans created by teachers in New Mexico should be considered intellectual property when it comes to records requests under the Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA).
