COVID at the Roundhouse

February 5, 2021 – The Line opinion panel chats about the recent revelation that a member of the House Republican Minority tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after New Mexico lawmakers began a different and distanced legislative session. Democratic Speaker of the House Brian Egolf criticized the Republican caucus for allegedly eating together – a claim the minority party disputed – and for insisting on in-person lawmaking during the pandemic. A group of three Republican leaders sued Egolf, saying his remote meeting plans violated the state Constitution. The state Supreme Court has yet to rule on the issue.
