The Line: Former State Senator Faces Criminal Charges Related To Real Estate Deal

March 4, 2016 – Former state senator Phil Griego resigned last year during the legislative session amid allegations of ethics violations. Now Griego faces 9 criminal charges, including bribery and solicitation, fraud and filing a false financial disclosure statement. Those charges were filed this week by state attorney general Hector Balderas

The charges are related to a real estate deal that Griego helped move through the legislature and then benefited from financially as the broker for the deal.
