1st Annual STEM Festival, Gwyneth Doland & the Last Leg of the Legislative Session

This week, NEW MEXICO IN FOCUS travels to the Roundhouse for the last leg of the legislative session, and for more interviews with our state’s lawmakers. NMiF correspondent Gwyneth Doland talks with lawmakers about the budget and education issues, including funding disagreements at the heart of the budget process, and an effort to waive tuition costs for kids who age out of foster care with no family support.

NMiF host Gene Grant talks with representatives of the 1st Annual STEM Festival that is taking place this Saturday in conjunction with Black History Month. The festival, hosted by Sandia National Labs, Intel Corp., and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and others, promotes science, technology, engineering and/or math careers to students from K-12.

Grant and The Line opinion panel look at the budget that passed both the House and Senate and will now go to Governor Susana Martinez’s desk. The group also looks at bills and amendments that met their demise during the session and tackle a rapid-fire round of other topics “on the clock.”
