{"id":9060,"date":"2016-06-24T14:06:25","date_gmt":"2016-06-24T21:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newmexicopbs.org\/productions\/newmexicoinfocus\/?p=9060"},"modified":"2020-06-02T09:58:45","modified_gmt":"2020-06-02T16:58:45","slug":"the-line-new-state-budget-estimate-is-bleak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newmexicopbs.org\/productions\/newmexicoinfocus\/the-line-new-state-budget-estimate-is-bleak\/","title":{"rendered":"The Line: New State Budget Estimate Is Bleak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>June 24, 2016 &#8211;\u00a0During an interim legislative meeting on Monday, the director of the Legislative Finance Committee told lawmakers that the budget is bleaker than originally expected.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0Albuquerque Journal,\u00a0David Abbey, Director of LFC, told the committee that New Mexico is running &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/795247\/legislators-fear-additional-cuts-may-be-needed.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on fumes<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0State lawmakers\u00a0originally thought revenue would be higher when they approved a budget in this year&#8217;s 30-day session, but Abbey announced that revenues will likely be\u00a0about 10\u00a0percent less than originally expected.<\/p>\n<p>A potential special session was brought up in the meeting.
