This week, we are proud to bring you Episode 1952 of New Mexico in Focus. It features a chat with a labor economist about recent efforts to increase the minimum wage in cities across our state; a look at the War Powers Resolution; an update on a New Mexico-based nun\u2019s path to sainthood; and a visit from my old friend and journalistic coconspirator Justin Horwath, who recently published a bomb of a story<\/a> in the Albuquerque Journal about the proposed $1.25 billion sale of New Mexico Gas Co. to a private equity firm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is, if you don\u2019t mind me saying, a quality show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I want to direct you back to the episode number: 1952. That\u2019s not just some random sequence of numbers we dragged down from the ether. Rather, it signifies the 52nd episode of the 19th season of NMiF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ll do the math, so you don\u2019t have to: We\u2019re a weekly show, and there are of course 52 weeks in a year. That means, when you tune in next week, you\u2019ll be embarking with us on the 20th season of NMiF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That ain\u2019t nothin\u2019. In fact, it\u2019s quite a run for a news and public affairs show at a PBS member station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Longtime viewers know we\u2019ve made some pretty significant changes over the last few years \u2014 from personnel to format to subject matter. We\u2019re happy with the direction things are headed, and we\u2019ve got some big ideas for Year 20. I\u2019m not here to give it all away, but here\u2019s one little nugget: You\u2019ll see a completely new look for NMiF in the coming months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this show over the last 19 years \u2014 and especially to those of you who have watched it. After all, if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it… <\/p>\n\n\n\n
