That includes the <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/nmpoliticalreport.com\/2023\/03\/13\/senate-passes-9-57-million-budget-amid-accusations-of-backroom-shenanigans\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$9.6B budget package passed by the state Senate Sunday.<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/nmlegis.gov\/Legislation\/Legislation?Chamber=H&amp;LegType=B&amp;LegNo=2&amp;year=23\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HB 2<\/a> would increase spending by nearly 14%, which works out to more than $1B.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Governor held a press conference in her office Tuesday morning to announce a bipartisan agreement on emergency legislation revising New Mexico\u2019s medical malpractice law. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/2581675\/bipartisan-compromise-reached-on-medical-malpractice-legislation.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">According to reporting<\/a> from the Albuquerque Journal\u2019s Dan McKay, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/Legislation\/Legislation?chamber=S&amp;legtype=B&amp;legno=523&amp;year=23\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SB 523<\/a> would make sure independently owned outpatient clinics can remain open next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New Mexico in Focus Political Correspondent Gwyneth Doland speaks with three people in the Roundhouse about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/Legislation\/Legislation?Chamber=H&amp;LegType=B&amp;LegNo=547&amp;year=23\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HB 547<\/a>, the omnibus tax bill that would address a wide range of items, including the Gross Receipts Tax and individual tax reimbursements of $500.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, Gene Grant talks to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TedAlcorn\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">independent Journalist Ted Alcorn<\/a> about the miniscule increase in alcohol taxes included in that tax plan.
