She also writes about the \u201cslow water\u201d movement and how communities can shape solutions and adapt to the changing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In conversation, Gies also discusses the dominant culture\u2019s historic shift away from observing and understanding how water works \u2013 and how in our relationships with water, \u201cprivileging ourselves isn\u2019t working.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, Gies explains, curiosity about water&nbsp;in our own neighborhoods and cities can help us \u201crecalibrate within ourselves our attitude toward
