Sadness in having to repeat conversations with their children about growing up Black in America\u2014the same conversations their parents had with them decades ago. Episode 4 is all about the journey to racial equality, and some of the factors to consider as we travel along the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kunm.org\/post\/@charlenemreid\">Charlene Reid<\/a>&nbsp;is the CEO and founder of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.excellencecommunityschools.org\/\">Excellence Community Schools<\/a>&nbsp;in the Bronx. She highlights their new model of community school that embraces the essential support from neighborhoods, businesses, parents and teachers, all working together toward student success. She also talks about the challenges in educating disadvantaged young people, and the strategies for making it work that can apply just about anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A panel of musicians dives into hip-hop, messages in music and what\u2019s being sold to people:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/abillifree.bandcamp.com\/\">A. Billi Free<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/toofree.bandcamp.com\/album\/love-in-high-demand\">Awad Bilal<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/jazztone-didit\">Jeff Jazztone Alberson<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/sebishiphop.com\/about-sebastien-elkouby\/\">Sebastian Elkouby<\/a>&nbsp;and Roscoe&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.communitypublishing.org\/dj-flo-fader-life-fader\/\">Flo Fader<\/a>&nbsp;Floyd, who gives us the COVID-19 remix of this conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Nichole Nelson wrote \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/outlook\/2020\/06\/29\/reparations-need-be-part-conversation-about-racial-justice\/\">Reparations need to be part of the conversation about racial justice\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;for the&nbsp;<em>Washington Post<\/em>. She gives us the history on reparations and envisions what it would take to make it happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cashthe3rd?lang=en\">Charles Ashley III<\/a>&nbsp;tells us about what a trio of successful businesspeople had to endure before the Albuquerque City Council to pull down $1 million for the Black Community Investment Fund, the first of its kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Khalil\u2019s father Ademola Ekulona offers a powerful conversation on the Civil Rights Movement and self-determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elizabeth Ward protested as a part of the Black Lives Matter movement in Rio Rancho every day for a month, sometimes by herself or with her husband, sometimes with friends, old and new. Reporter Nash Jones brings us this story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/richardaclarke.net\/\">Richard A. Clarke<\/a>&nbsp;spent 30 years as a senior national policy adviser and served under three presidents. He speaks about the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Protective Service being deployed against protesters. Clarke also gives us a warning about the November election and national security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kimberly York is the president of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sowhoenterprises.org\/\">SO WHO Enterprises<\/a>&nbsp;and the interim director of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blackprograms.nmsu.edu\/\">Black Programs<\/a>&nbsp;at New Mexico State University. She\u2019s also just been appointed to the governor\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.state.nm.us\/governors-advisory-council-for-racial-justice\/\">Advisory Council for Racial Justice<\/a>.
