Many thanks to Alyssa Atias, Maggie Grimason, Rob Nakai, Vanessa Bowen, Erin Saulsbury, Bill Nevens, Quinn Fati, Elisa McGovern, and Katie Farmin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And a news update:&nbsp;<\/strong>The number of cases is rising among N.M. prison inmates and at ICE detention centers,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfreporter.com\/news\/2020\/05\/21\/nm-covid-19-cases-6472\/\">according to the Santa Fe Reporter.<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tomudall.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/dhs-inspector-general-to-examine-ice-detention-facility-covid-19-policies-and-practices\">Senator Tom Udall announced<\/a>&nbsp;that the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s inspector general will review ICE\u2019s efforts to stop the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.state.nm.us\/2020\/05\/20\/updated-new-mexico-covid-19-cases-now-at-6317-seven-additional-deaths\/\">State officials announced<\/a>&nbsp;163 new cases today,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cvprovider.nmhealth.org\/public-dashboard.html\">bringing the statewide total to 6,472.<\/a>&nbsp;Do\u00f1a Ana County has the most new cases. They also said there were 11 deaths, which means the total number of fatalities stands at 294.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/live\/?v=250808289464406&amp;ref=watch_permalink\">The governor announced yesterday<\/a>&nbsp;that the virus seems to have peaked in the state,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfreporter.com\/news\/2020\/05\/21\/nm-covid-19-cases-6472\/\">SFR reports,<\/a>&nbsp;and restaurants, spas and gyms will likely open on June 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Navajo Nation is reporting 100 new cases, bringing the total there to 4,253.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.krqe.com\/health\/coronavirus-new-mexico\/navajo-nation-confirmed-cases-of-covid-19\/\">According to KRQE<\/a>, the government is doing large-scale testing there, and there will be a lockdown again this weekend. The state of emergency declaration and closure of government offices will be in place at least until June 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is calling for a special session to begin on June 18 to patch the roughly $2 billion dollar hole in the state\u2019s budget,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/nmindepth.com\/2020\/05\/21\/public-schools-could-avert-deep-cuts-in-june-session-top-lawmaker-says\/\">according to New Mexico In Depth.<\/a>&nbsp;She said she\u2019s hoping public schools won\u2019t experience cuts. Senator John Arthur Smith, one of the primary author\u2019s of the state\u2019s budget, told the news outlet that savings and federal money should mean schools don\u2019t bear the brunt of the burden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We&#8217;re keeping a complete list of the resources and volunteer opportunities that we find for each episode at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kunm.org\/post\/ynmg-hub-covid-resources-and-volunteers\">bit.ly\/YNMGhub<\/a>.
