We also try and find out what the holdup is with the federal relief money destined for the state&#8217;s businesses.\n\n\n\n\nWe talk to Bianca Encinias, executive director for the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/southvalleymainstreet.org\/\">South Valley MainStreet<\/a>, about special problems facing the popular mom-and-pop shops in Albuquerque&#8217;s neighboring area. We also hear from Emily Esterson, owner of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/e-squarededit.com\/\">E-Squared Editorial Services<\/a>, about troubles she&#8217;s having chasing down those&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/\">Small Business Administration<\/a>&nbsp;loans.\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/gonm.biz\/\">Economic Development Department<\/a>&nbsp;Secretary Alicia Keyes gives us the scoop on what&#8217;s going wrong with those SBA funds and lets us know about what the state&#8217;s offering. The state&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tax.newmexico.gov\/message-from-the-secretary.aspx\">Tax &amp; Rev<\/a>&nbsp;Department Secretary&nbsp;Stephanie Schardin Clarke gets into detail on those postponed taxes coming due this summer.\n\nAlbuquerque Mayor Tim Keller tells us about the city&#8217;s actions with businesses that are violating the state&#8217;s shutdown order, and about a grand fund for businesses with less than five employees (more on that below).\n\nLastly,&nbsp;Shawn Gay, general manager for the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqpressclub.com\/\">Albuquerque Press Club<\/a>, reflects on the closure of the club, and how bars are more than just places to drink; they&#8217;re places where people gather to process what&#8217;s happening.\n\n<strong>And a news update:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;For folks who are self-employed in New Mexico and who aren\u2019t getting unemployment, the state\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dws.state.nm.us\/en-us\/\">Department of Workforce Solutions<\/a>&nbsp;is offering a 750-dollar stimulus check to the first 2,000 applicants who qualify.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We&#8217;re keeping a complete list of the resources and volunteer opportunities that we find for each episode at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kunm.org\/post\/ynmg-hub-covid-resources-and-volunteers\">bit.ly\/YNMGhub<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Resources:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you&#8217;re in New Mexico and looking for a loan to stay afloat, the state will act as a guarantor through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gonm.biz\/about-us\/covid-19-response#eddloan\">COVID-19 Loan Guarantee Program<\/a><\/li><li>Manufacturers and retailers in communities that are smaller than 10,000 can access the state&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gonm.biz\/community-development\">LEDA funds<\/a>&nbsp;right now, too.<\/li><li>The state&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gonm.biz\/\">Economic Development Department<\/a>&nbsp;has all kinds of other resources, too.<\/li><li>Support the state&#8217;s local businesses by purchasing gift cards to help them stay afloat through&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buynmlocal.com\/\">buyNMlocal.com<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li>Small businesses in Albuquerque with less than five employees can also look for the city&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cabq.gov\/economicdevelopment\/small-business\/micro-business-relief-program\">micro-grant fund<\/a>. Those are $5,000 grants\u2014not loans\u2014so you don&#8217;t have to pay them back. Mayor Tim Keller told YNMG that they&#8217;re trying to find more cash for that fund.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>How are things going for you? We want to know.
