But he also has a long history of public health service. He was the first Native American to serve as president of the American Public Health Association. Last year, he was named one of the 75 most influential alumni of the past 75 years by the University of California\u2019s Berkeley School of Public Health. His work has focused on medical social work, health care administration and public health policy.
